Subject:Seaton Delavell Vicarage Field Camp 1915

I am researching my father's family and note from a marriage certificate that his aunt(my grandfather's sister)married a Private soldier from 6th Somerset's in May 1915 in London. His address is given as Seaton Delavel Vicarage Field Camp. Can anyone advise me if this was in fact a training camp for new recruits or was it a camp for soldiers drafted in to work in the coal mines as it would seem a long way to send a Somerset regiment for training. Another thought I had was that they could have been there Defence work as I believe that the Germans did bomb the East Coast at Hartlepool and Whitby but I don't know the dates and if bombs were fired as far north as Northumberland.
This soldier survived the War and then went to work in the South Wales Coal Mining community so maybe he was on mine work in Northumberland as he was an agricultural labourer in Somerset before 1914.
I have just returned from a short break in Northumberland and found it to be a beautiful place and have every intention of returning again for a longer holiday and to be able to spend more time in your Village. Needless to say I live in the South.
